Memories of the Hocotate Ship: Prologue

While he lay there out in the rain, the Ship’s A.I. slowly began to regain consciousness. He was suddenly overwhelmed by his pain sensors as the raindrops seeped into the cracks in his corroding, battered hull. ‘What happened?’ he thought to himself. He noticed that his optical and audio receptors were barely functioning and how lucky he was to even be alive… for now. He began searching through his memory banks for any clue as to why he was in the rain in such a bad shape.

[Scanning… Scanning… Sca-]
[ERROR. Data files are too corrupt.]

‘Oh, well that’s just great.’ the Ship thought to himself. He began trying again to see if there was anything he could make out of the corrupt data files. After several milliseconds, which felt like forever for an A.I., he finally managed to remember what had happened.
Space Cadet Louie was trying to escape this planet while carrying what looked like a bag of juice containers. The rest of the memory was too corrupt to make any sense of it, though. All he could remember after that was that Louie was yelling at him, his main engine had failed to start, and a giant creature Louie had woken up was heading straight towards them. Everything after that showed up as nothing but blank memory files.

[WARNING! WARNING!]
[Major damage detected around main hull! Energy and fuel reactors have been destroyed!]

Now that he thought about it, it did feel like nearly every pain sensor he had was reacting violently, and he did feel a bit low on energy.

[WARNING! WARNING!]
[Power supply running low!]

‘Well… this is it,’ he weakly thought to himself. ‘The time has come. It’s time for me to bid farewell to this cruel world. It’s time that I’d like to say good bye to everyone who I have known through out my artificial life.’ That’s when it hit him. There was no way he could say good bye to anyone. He was all alone. He was alone and he was going to die alone.

‘Quite a sad thought now that I think about it. Especially since machines don’t have an after life and…’ The Ship was beginning to lose consciousness again.

[Power supply running out! Now initiating complete A.I. shutdown.]

As the Ship began to black out, he started reminiscing about everything that had happened throughout his life. Starting with the day he was first switched on…
This is something I wanted to do after having a conversation with :iconnekopikmin:. The both of us noticed that there are little to no fanfics that star the Hocotate Freight Ship. So, since no one else plans on writing a story starring the Ship, I've decided to take it upon myself and write not only the first fanfic I've ever written but also the first ever fanfic that is based on the Ship! Although, I must admit that I feel a bit nervous about what I just got myself into. Oh boy... This should be interesting.XD
Anyways, this the prologue to "Memories of the Hocotate Ship", a fanfic I'm writing that shows what the Ship's past may have been like before the events of Pikmin 2. Before moving on to the beginning of the Ship's life, which will start at Chapter 1, the prologue here is showing the Ship's last few moments before death.
Let me know what you think and how good my writing skills are so far.:)
